T1  Changes, Clarification and Improvements to the Operability Determination Process

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has been approached by industry stakeholders to consider changes to the operability determination process that would result in updates to Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 0326, "Operability Determinations & Functional Assessments for Conditions Adverse to Quality or Safety," dated November 20, 2017. This panel, comprising NRC and industry representatives, will discuss the newly developed industry operability guidance and potential changes to IMC 0326. The discussion will highlight six areas of potential improvement where efficiency and predictability can be enhanced in the NRC’s inspection guidance for operability determinations.
