W11 Re-Energizing License Renewal
Over 6 years ago, the NRC received its first application to renew a license from 60 to 80 years – a subsequent license renewal application.
Since then, the NRC and industry have explored creative avenues to make both initial and subsequent license renewal reviews more predictable and timelier. Through “Re-Energizing License Renewal,” participants will learn from a diverse panel of experts on how innovation has played a vital and integral role in evolving the license renewal process for the better.
The NRC will lead the discussion with technical topics such as the NRC’s newly launched tiered approach, which tailors its safety review and the essential role of inspection and oversight in the overall license renewal process. With perspectives from the industry, the panel will explore how best practices and lessons learned have led to a series of process improvements that have, and will continue to, advance the license renewal process for years to come.
