Mike King

Mr. King joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)in 2005 under the Resident Inspector Development Program in Region II. He was then subsequently assigned as the Resident Inspector at Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant in North Carolina. Mr. King was later assigned as a Reactor Projects Team Leader, where he coordinated the biennial Problem Identification and Resolution (PI&R) Inspection program and ROP program updates and support for Region II. He also served as the Reactor Projects Branch Chief for the Tennessee Valley Authority, SCANA and Dominion plants, and as the Reactor Safety Branch Chief for fire protection and cyber security in Region II. In 2016, Mr. King was selected for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Deputy Director, Division of Inspection and Regional Support, NRR and subsequently served as the Director, Division of Fuel Cycle Safety, Safeguards, and Environmental Review, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, and the Director, Vogtle Project Office, in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Deputy Office Director for Reactor.

Before joining the NRC, Mr. King worked for General Electric Energy in Marietta, Georgia, and served in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Engineer qualified Submarine Officer.

Mr. King received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University.  He is a graduate of the NRC's SES Candidate Development Program.
