Thomas Kindred
Tom has over 20 years of experience in the commercial nuclear industry. He started at Westinghouse performing reload and startup physics testing and safety analyses in support of the original PWR uprate programs. As a Fellow Engineer at Westinghouse he served as the lead fuel and safety analysis engineer for Westinghouse's AP1000 design from 2008 through NRC design certification and completion of hot-functional testing for the Sanmen and Haiyang Units. He spent 5 years at EPRI in the Risk and Safety Management program participating in the Japan National Project for Post-Fukushima Decommissioning activities with particular focus on severe accident research and learnings. Tom joined Southern Nuclear Operating Co. in early 2020 where he serves in a Consulting Engineer role, and has worked within the Fuels, Safety Analysis, and Risk areas leading initiatives to accomplish plant uprates, cycle extensions, and implementation of ATF systems. Tom holds a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University, and a Professional Engineer Certification (Mechanical-Pennsylvania).
