John Nakoski
Mr. John A. Nakoski is currently the Deputy Head for Regulation of the Division of Nuclear Safety Technology and Regulation at the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since 5 December 2022. He has more than 40 years of experience working in the nuclear industry mostly as an inspector and regulator for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). He has held leadership roles at the NRC in the areas of operating reactor licensing and project management, pressurized water reactor systems, rulemaking, license renewal, operating reactor and construction inspection program development, quality assurance and vendor oversight, and probabilistic risk assessment development and application in regulatory decision-making. In addition to his background at the NRC, Mr. Nakoski worked at the NEA between 2010 and 2013 where he provided technical support to countries embarking on nuclear power programs and supported the NEA’s efforts in response to the accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. Prior to working at the NRC, he was a nuclear test and nuclear refueling engineer for the U.S. Department of the Navy at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
