Raj Iyengar
Dr. Raj Iyengar leads the Reactor Engineering Branch in the Division of Engineering (DE) in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES). He has over 30 years of professional experience in corporate and technical leadership positions. During his NRC tenure, he has been building and nurturing effective partnerships with internal teams and external organizations to align regulatory research with future industry needs.
Before joining NRC, Raj has held corporate management positions in the automotive industry, where he led product development and applications efforts, and research positions at Battelle - Columbus, and University of Pennsylvania.
Raj has authored or coauthored over 70 publications focused on emerging technologies, including advanced materials, modeling and simulation, AI applications, nuclear spent fuel storage, and next-generation reactor components.
Raj holds a Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics and a Sc. M. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University, an M. S.in Mechanics and Materials Science from Rutgers University, and an M.S. in Metallurgy from Indian Institute of Science.
