Steve Schilthelm (pronounced shilt-helm)
Director, Regulatory & Mission Assurance, BWXT Advanced Technologies
Steve has four decades leading operational, design, and licensing organizations at NRC-licensed facilities and licensing projects. He has broad experience with the NRC’s regulatory framework and processes for power reactors, fuel cycle facilities, non-power reactors, and reprocessing facilities.
Steve has also worked with government agencies and congressional staff to develop solutions unique to licensing and oversight challenges. He currently leads all regulatory and mission-assurance activities for BWXT’s Advanced Technologies Group for terrestrial and space reactor programs.
Steve earned a B.S. degree in Nuclear Engineering and an M.S. degree in Medical/Health Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is certified by the American Board of Health Physicists.
