Mr. Yasir Arafat is the President and CTO of Aalo Atomics, leading the overall technical direction and integration across Product Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Fuels, and Regulatory Affairs. Prior to this, Mr. Yasir Arafat led the DOE MARVEL program as the national Technical Area Lead for the Department of Energy Microreactor Program. He has 16 years of experience leading and executing nuclear development and deployment, primarily in advanced reactor programs. He was one of the industry pioneers of microreactors and the Technical Lead of the Westinghouse eVinci™ Micro Reactor Program, where he led the overall product design. Mr. Arafat specializes in executive leadership in nuclear, leading product design, factory mass-production, and innovation strategy. His nuclear reactor design experience comprises the gigawatt-scale reactors, SMRs, microreactors, and XMRs. Mr. Arafat received his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from University of Pittsburgh and Masters in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University. He has been granted 14 patents for his inventions and was the youngest recipient of the American Nuclear Society’s pinnacle award, the Walter Zinn Medal, in 2023, for his contributions to advancing microreactor technology in the United States.
