Mohammed (Mo) Badal

Mohammed (Mo) Badal joined the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (OASA) for Installation, Energy, and Environment (IE&E) in April of 2024 as a Department of the Army (DA) Civilian and assumed the duties as the Program Director for Installation Nuclear Energy. In his current capacity, he is leading a cross-functional team with members from several Army organizations, Air Force, Navy, NRC, and DOE (including five national labs) and supporting Army's Janus Program. Mo began his career as an engineer Soldier at Fort Carson, Colorado in 1997; he was later honorably discharged as a staff sergeant and began his engineer warrant officer career in December 2005. In his last couple of assignments respectively, as Chief Warrant Officer 5, between June 2018 - July 2023, he served as Chief, Contingency Construction and Operational Energy Branch, within the Office of the Chief of Engineers (OCE) in Headquarters (HQ) DA Staff and senior prime power advisor with 249th Prime Power Battalion at Fort Belvoir, VA. During his tenure, he also established the Nuclear Power Branch of the Office of the Chief of Engineers in 2020 and served as an Operational Energy (OE) advisor since 2014.After retiring from Active Duty in November of 2023, he briefly joined Idaho National Laboratory (INL), as the program manager for defense use of microreactors.
