Nicole Allison
Ms. Nicole Allison currently works as a Nuclear Non-proliferation Officer within the Non-proliferation and Export Controls Divisions of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) – Canada’s federal regulatory body which oversees the use of nuclear energy, materials, and the implementation of Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. She began this role in 2019 following completion of a Nuclear Engineering undergraduate program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) in Nuclear Engineering.
In her current role, Nicole’s work contributes to the fulfillment of Canada’s domestic and international obligations with respect to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Her work includes conducting risk-informed reviews of import and export licence applications for proliferation-sensitive nuclear commodities, supporting the implementation of Canada’s bilateral Nuclear Cooperation Agreements, and providing technical advice in various international non-proliferation fora.
Nicole began her career with the CNSC in 2017 as a Technical Co-op Student. During this 15-month internship, Nicole rotated through various divisions of the organization and worked on projects ranging from reporting on CNSC research efforts, to supporting the fulfillment of Canada’s safeguards obligations to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to developing and presenting a student paper on the Canadian regulatory basis for exclusion zone sizing at the 42nd Annual Canadian Nuclear Society/Canadian Nuclear Association Student Conference.
In her free time, Nicole is a "cheesy" cinema enthusiast, enjoying movies that are so bad they become good again.
