Christopher Craighead
Christopher (Chris) Craighead joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as the Agency Culture Team Lead in May 2023, where he leads a team in the development and execution of strategies to foster an ideal work culture for the Agency. Prior to joining the NRC, Chris served at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) where he stood-up the new Atlanta Office of Medicare Appeals on behalf of the Secretary. In his role as Hearing Office Director from 2018-2023, Chris focused on building a dynamic and inclusive work culture centered on teamwork and collaboration amongst the U.S. Administrative Law Judges, attorneys, legal support, and administrative teams. His leadership and culture-building efforts resulted in a highly engaged and productive workforce evidenced, in part by the office’s annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey results. Chris oversaw the work of several teams and influenced the staff’s creation of numerous mission-centered programs and work products. Chris is a 2022 graduate of the Atlanta Executive Board’s Leadership in Government Program, where he was awarded The Ronald Stephens award for outstanding leadership. During his more than 20-year federal government career, Chris has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Secretary’s Award for Meritorious Service, 2021, and Leader of the Year, 2020. Chris is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with BA in Legal Studies.
