William Scherman
William S. Scherman is a Partner at Vinson & Elkins. He advises companies on litigation, commercial, regulatory and legislative matters relating to the U.S. and international energy markets. He has litigated high-profile energy investigation and enforcement matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and in the federal courts.
Recently, he filed amicus briefs in the SEC v. Jarkesy case on behalf of Energy Transfer L.P. and Total Energies Gas & Power.
Mr. Scherman previously served as general counsel for the FERC and also served at FERC as chief of staff and senior legal and policy advisor.
Mr. Scherman received his BA from George Washington University and his JD from the University of Louisville School of Law where he was the Articles Editor of the Law Review.
