Jennifer M. Whitman serves as the Acting Director, Division of Safety Systems, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

Ms. Whitman joined the NRC as part of the Nuclear Safety Professional Development class of 2010 and became a technical reviewer in the Reactor Systems Branch, Division of Safety Systems (DSS), in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). Ms. Whitman then held progressively more responsible positions in NRR as acting chief of the Technical Specifications Branch in DSS, chief of the Reactor Systems Branch in DSS, and chief of PRA Licensing Branch B in the Division of Risk Assessment. Ms. Whitman has served in a number of temporary assignments including as a Technical Assistant for Reactors to former Chairman Svinicki, Strategic Director of NRR's EMBARK Venture Studio, Deputy Director of DRA in NRR and Deputy Division Director of the Division of Emergency Preparedness and Response in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response. Ms. Whitman's most recent position prior to joining DSS was as the Deputy Director for Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery, and Waste programs in the Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Security.

Ms. Whitman grew up in Naperville, IL and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Engineering.
