Angela Leek

Dr. Angela Leek is a nationally recognized Certified Health Physicist and radiological emergency preparedness leader with nearly 30 years of experience in radiation protection, regulatory oversight, and radiological response. Dr. Leek previously served as Radiological Health Bureau Chief for the State of Iowa, directing all aspects of Iowa's radiation control program and dose assessment for radiological emergency preparedness and response. She is now the Founder and Principal Health Physicist of Quantum Radiation Solutions, providing strategic technical consultation to state, federal, and private sector partners across the radiological protection and response enterprise. Dr. Leek currently provides support to multiple state radiation control program, the U.S. DOE NNSA, and university and national lab initiatives related to radiological response. She has represented the United States at international radiological preparedness workshops and conferences — including a recent keynote at the Emergency Preparedness and Response Conference in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Leek has multiple publications in the Health Physics Journal and was a contributor to The 2022 Oxford Handbook of Nuclear Security. She earned a Masters degree in Radiation Health Physics from Oregon State University, and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University, where her research focused on improving radiological emergency response through analysis of responder mental models on radiation and risk.
