Louis Caponi
Louis Caponi is a Risk Analyst in the Division of Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery, and Waste Programs within the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. Currently, he leads the division’s response to Executive Order 14300, implementing strategies to enhance regulatory flexibility and improve efficiency across these programs. Louis began his career through the Nuclear Regulator Apprenticeship Network (NRAN) program, gaining hands-on experience in reactor oversight, risk analysis, and physical security. In 2024, he returned to the program on rotation as the NRAN Program Manager, where he made an agency-wide impact by shaping the next generation of regulatory professionals. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Outside of work, Louis is a professional dancer and just finished his first season as an NFL cheerleader with the Washington Commanders.
