Kelli Voelsing
Kelli Voelsing has over two decades of experience in the nuclear power industry. In her current role, she is a Director in NEI's Engineering and Risk Group supporting NEI's members in advancing innovation, ensuring regulatory excellence and efficiency, and influencing energy policies that enable the safe, reliable, and carbon-free operation of nuclear facilities.
Prior to joining NEI, Kelli was the Senior Program Manager for Plant Reliability and Resilience at the EPRI where she oversaw research activities in engineering, maintenance, and instrumentation & control (I&C) for nuclear power plants globally. Under her leadership, the program was consistently recognized for its technical excellence and pragmatic approach to engineering and operational challenges. Kelli also has a robust background in risk and safety management, having previously managed EPRI's Risk and Safety Management (RSM) program. In this role, she developed advanced methods and tools for probabilistic risk analysis (PRA) and risk applications, working on a variety of risk informed initiatives including 50.69, Risk Informed Technical Specifications, HEAF, fire PRA, and seismic risk.
Kelli previously worked in various technical and leadership positions at AREVA NP (now Framatome), GE-Hitachi (now GE Vernova), and Progress Energy (now Duke Energy), where she gained experience in engineering, operations, licensing/regulatory affairs, and emergency planning. She began her career as an officer in the US Navy where she served in USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG-54). Kelli is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Chemistry with Honors. She also completed Naval Nuclear Power School and Prototype and completed certification as a Naval Nuclear Engineer by Naval Reactors.
