Eric Schrader

Mr. Schrader has been an Emergency Preparedness Specialist for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, Division of Preparedness and Response for the past 16 years. Mr. Schrader has over 40 years of experience in nuclear power, encompassing the areas of onsite and offsite emergency preparedness; intergovernmental agency relations; power plant maintenance and planning; and reactor operations. Currently, as an Emergency Preparedness Specialist, he is the technical lead for SECY-22-001 “Final Rule Emergency Preparedness for Small Modular Reactors and Other New Technologies” (10 CFR 50.160) and EP technical lead for the 10 CFR Part 53 - Advanced Reactor Rulemaking working group.

Prior to joining the NRC in 2008, Mr. Schrader served in the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Program as Reactor Operator on a fast attack submarine, then spent twenty years at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant; 10-years as a Senior Emergency Preparedness Analyst and 10-years as an Instrument and Control Technician.
